Big Week – comings and goings

The second week of July has been a big week for the Bullen household with Chris moving up to a flat in Bermondsey, London to share with a school friend and Sam moving further afield to the south of France to work with a French company for one year as part of his industrial training period.

We have agreed to rent the house out to some people in River but to fully cover the costs it would be good to secure one additional person. Our aim is be a resource to people in the church so we are delighted that the house can be used in this way.

We have also received further confirmation from Oporto in Portugal regarding our accommodation and language lessons so that part of the jig-saw-puzzle is falling into place.

We met together to pray on 23rd June and that has certainly seen some fruit so come along to the next gatherings at the Vickers home if you are able on 28th July and 15th August at 8.00pm.

River will be sending us out at a meeting on Sunday 27th July in Maidenhead and then we fly out to Portugal on 27th August. So please put this date in your diaries!

Funding

So far we have tried to provide some information about how to support us financially, but we’ve been encouraged to be more direct in terms of our need for funding – so here goes!

Based upon advice from a number of different quarters our budget for 15 months (comprising 3 months language study in Portugal and 12 months work in Angoche) is £31,739. This includes malarial drugs which will be £2,000 alone.

So far we have saved £11,000 and will be selling the Mini to put in a further £7,000 (we hope). In addition River has committed to give £3,000 from the 2007 budget to help with our start up costs. A few individuals have started to make commitments regarding support and this currently totals £2,750.

Boat children

So if you are quick on the old arithmetic you will know we need to raise a further £8,000 to meet our overall budget.

What we would really like to do is raise more than this figure so that we can provide some financial support and have funds for emergency assistance for Koti people when we are in Angoche. Being on the ground will mean we see needs and are able to direct funds to where they are most needed. Recharge is hoping to do some fund raising which we would like to direct towards victims of a cyclone earlier in the year. For us this is a really wonderful and significant connection.

We are asking you if you would be willing to come on this adventure with us, by supporting us both in prayer and with your money. Both will make an enormous difference by helping us fulfil God’s call on this next chapter of our lives and by being a blessing to part of His kingdom in a very remote part of the world.

From a prayer point of view Jane and Andrew van Reenen will be organising regular prayer meetings in Maidenhead while we are away and circulating the latest information. Could you commit to being a regular part of these meetings and praying for us?

From a financial point of view, could you commit £25 per month for the next 15 months to help cover our projected shortfall? If you, along with 24 other people did the same, our shortfall would be covered. Alternatively any form of one off or regular gift would be massively appreciated.

So if you would like to give please see the following information and please let us know what you have decided to do. You can also find further details on the blog – www.kotijourney.wordpress.com

Thanks and appreciation

Julian and Annie
